Coming back from seeing in New Year in Bangkok by train.
This is typical of the small stations in Thailand.
No real platforms to speak of, so quite a drop from the train. People tend to get off whichever side is most convenient, and cross the ballast to another platform/the exit.
The stations are generally well looked after, with a smartly turned out station master.

This is the main junction for Bangkok/The North and Bangkok/The North East trains,
and is where a lot of food is sold from the platforms.
This shows two people carrying trays of ice cream, the boy on the platform and the man crossing the tracks.
Only one flavour - coconut - so take it or leave it. I took it; nice ice cream !
You eat it with a straw; odd, but it works.

The old engine shown in the last picture.
Taken whilst the train was moving, so came out quite well.
Not sure what era or significance, but a nice picture.

Just a part of the coutryside that we passed.
Lots of scrubland, palms and bananas; this is fairly typical of central Thailand.

Who says that the Thais have no taste !
Taken from the moving train, so a bit blurred in the foreground.
The real house did not lean, but this is the best that I could do.

A typical Thai town high street.
Lots of cables eveywhere, random parking, and the odd food stall or two. Also, people walking in the road - slow trafic, so you can just wander - and a bit of a mess of shop names.
Plants growing in an almost planned way; not enough here to give the proper shade.
This is at a level crossing; the people in the foreground are waiting to cross the tracks. No gates, so you do need to keep your wits about you.
